Classic gaming on the Wii

Friday, September 12th, 2008

I downloaded the original Super Mario Bros and Mega Man, man oh man what great memories!

I remember all the great fun (and time wasted!) I had as a kid with these games, damn I feel old at 33…….

Amahi. A linux based alternative to Windows Home Server

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Found this today while doing my usual kill the afternoon at work web browsing:

http://www.amahi.org/

It’s a linux based alternative to Windows Home Server and it costs $0.00, open source FTW!!!

It’s only supported on Fedora at the moment, but an Ubuntu version is in the works. I may give this a spin tonight on a spare machine and see how it works out, I’m extremely interested in it. It will be even better once they get it running on Ubuntu/Debian (I’m a Debian zealot)

I see a dedicated monster box in my future if this thing works out good.

Why hasn’t Apple built a home based server yet!!!???

Blogging from my iPod touch

Wordpress introduced an app for the iPhone/iPod touch.

Pretty cool so far, but Im still not used to the keyboard on this, hence the reason I have a Blackberry instead of an iPhone :)

New webhost

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

Well in my quest to save electricity at home, I have decided to move back to a commercial hosting provider. I am back with Dreamhost (again), I hope they are better this time. I have not found a comparable plan out there yet that offers the level of service they do, so they are hard to beat.

We’ll see how it works out. I’ll be moving my ham radio site over here as well and shutting my webserver down, just makes more sense to me at this point in time.

Back online!

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

I’m going to let the server “soak” for a few days before I move into it’s final resting location in my new house, I seriously doubt my wife will let me keep it in the living room where it is currently at :P
EDIT:After many router troubles that I *STILL* don’t have worked out (GRRRRR) the server was down for a few days. It will be up for now until I can get everything worked out.
